Update, 1/29/25 10:15 a.m.: The Trump Administration has rescinded the memo freezing federal funds. UCOP and UCLA will continue to monitor the situation.
Update: Visit the Office of Research and Administration (ORA) site for more information.
Vice Chancellor for Research & Creative Activities (ORCA) Roger Wakimoto, updated faculty, graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and staff on the recent memorandum sent from the federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB). UCLA and the UC Office of the President have been working together to understand the potential impacts of the memo on research and creative activities. As of this writing, lawsuits have been officially filed challenging the OMB directive.
In the meantime, it is advised principal investigators continue to do their research but to monitor communications from your funding agency, UCLA’s Office of Research Administration (ORA), and ORCA. If anybody receives any stop-work orders, please forward them to: awards@research.ucla.edu.
